Bayern Munich has sent a strong message to Liverpool and Chelsea regarding the future of Michael Olise, the player Liverpool aims to sign as Mohamed Salah’s replacement at Anfield.
Sporting director Christoph Freund emphasized that Bayern Munich will not yield to any pressure in selling Michael Olise, as Liverpool and Chelsea aggressively pursue the French star. After joining Bayern for 60 million Euros from Crystal Palace in summer 2024, Olise quickly established himself as a key player and became one of the Bundesliga champions’ mainstays.
Michael Olise’s first season in Germany marked a turning point in his career. The 23-year-old scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists in 55 matches across all competitions, playing a major role in Bayern Munich reclaiming the domestic title. This season, Olise continues to impress with 5 goals and 6 assists in just 10 games.
According to BILD, Olise’s outstanding performances have attracted attention from several European giants like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea. Notably, Liverpool sees him as the ideal successor to Mohamed Salah, whose contract at Anfield is nearing its end. However, Bayern Munich has taken a firm stance, making it clear that no club will easily gain access to this player.
Christoph Freund stated on Sky Sport Germany’s Sky90 podcast: "We are under no pressure whatsoever. We can envision Olise playing for Bayern for the next 7, 8, or 9 years. Michael has a long-term contract, he has proven himself, and he continues to improve every day."
Bayern’s sporting director Max Erbel also expressed a similar viewpoint: "He still has over three and a half years left on his contract. Olise will increasingly become a decisive factor in Bayern’s style of play and the future of the club — and if it’s up to us, we want him here as long as possible."
According to sources from Germany, Olise’s current contract with Bayern Munich runs until 2029. To convince the Bundesliga champions to let him go, clubs like Liverpool or Chelsea would have to offer at least 100 million Euros (approximately 87 million Pounds). Nevertheless, this price tag does not seem to deter these "big clubs," especially as Liverpool seeks a replacement for Mohamed Salah in the near future.
As Olise shines increasingly at Bayern Munich, the question arises: is Liverpool ready to break the bank to bring the "Salah successor" back to the Premier League?
