Following the initial practice in the UAE, Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh plans to convene a meeting to confirm the strategy and team selection for U23 Vietnam’s match versus Qatar.
On the evening of October 7th (local time), the U23 Vietnam team arrived in Abu Dhabi (UAE), officially starting their international training camp as part of preparations for SEA Games 33 and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
After settling into their accommodation and resting to recover from the long flight, the coaching staff organized light exercises this morning (October 8th) within the hotel grounds to help players relax their muscles, release energy, and adjust to the weather and time zone changes in the UAE. The whole team appeared relaxed, enthusiastic, and showed a highly focused spirit.
This afternoon, the U23 Vietnam team will conduct a tactical training session to prepare for their first friendly match against U23 Qatar, scheduled at 7 PM local time (10 PM Vietnam time) at the 321Sports stadium. Prior to this, Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh will hold a technical meeting to decide on tactics and the starting lineup. On October 14th, the team will face this West Asian opponent again in a rematch.
These matches are crucial for U23 Vietnam’s training camp in the UAE, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation in cooperation with the Qatar Football Association, aiming to help the team refine their squad, practice tactics, and test their strength ahead of SEA Games 33 and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
Before the trip, the U23 Vietnam squad experienced sudden changes due to injuries. Two players, Đinh Xuân Tiến and Nguyễn Ngọc Mỹ, had to withdraw unexpectedly. Lê Đình Long Vũ (SLNA) and Nguyễn Lê Phát (Ninh Bình) were called up as replacements.
