Coach Peter Cklamovski confirmed that Malaysia's team will pay no attention to FIFA's punishment and concentrate exclusively on the game versus Laos.
The head coach of Malaysia’s national team, Peter Cklamovski, emphasized that the squad’s focus will not be distracted by the controversies engulfing the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) following the latest FIFA evidence and sanctions.
Cklamovski made this statement during the pre-match press conference for the third Group F match in the Asian Cup qualifiers against Laos in Vientiane. He expressed his desire to keep off-field issues from affecting Malaysia’s serious commitment to securing all three points.
“That is completely beyond our control. The Malaysian team is not concerned with matters outside the sport. I understand there are many discussions happening at the moment, but these are out of our hands and irrelevant to the team.”
He added that Malaysia’s national team is currently focused solely on preparing for the challenging opponent Laos, while aiming to maintain their positive momentum in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers:
“If we think about anything other than our performance on the pitch, we would be disrespecting this match. The spirit within the Malaysian team is strong; we will give our all for each other, play with our identity, and continue building on what we have worked hard to achieve as a national team.”
Meanwhile, Cklamovski also stressed his commitment to inspiring Malaysians through the team’s performances, hoping their fighting spirit will bring confidence and pride to Malaysia’s supporters.
Despite evidence showing the Malaysian Football Association forged naturalization documents for seven players, the national team will still compete throughout the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The final match against Vietnam on March 31, 2026, is also the deadline for Malaysia to complete the appeal process against FIFA’s sanctions. After that, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will issue the final ruling.
