On the morning of October 8th, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, visited and motivated the Vietnam U17 women's team training at Thủ Dầu Một Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, ahead of the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers.
On behalf of the entire team, Coach Okiyama Masahiko provided updates on the Vietnam U17 women's team’s preparation process. He mentioned that while some players experienced minor injuries, overall the team is currently stable.
Today, October 8th, the team will play their final friendly match, allowing the coaching staff to review the squad and tactics before the competition begins. During the meeting, General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú conveyed greetings and encouragement from VFF President Trần Quốc Tuấn and the Executive Committee to the U17 women's team. They hope the team will soon qualify for the 2026 U17 Asian final round and become the fifth Vietnamese team to participate in the Asian Championship finals.
General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú also expressed hope that soon the world will witness a new generation of Vietnamese women's football featuring talents like “Thanh Nhã, Huỳnh Như, or Tuyết Dung 2.0.”
According to the schedule, the Vietnam U17 women's team will face Guam on October 13th and Hong Kong on October 17th, with both matches kicking off at 4:00 PM at Gò Đậu Stadium and livestreamed on the VFF Channel YouTube.
