Despite the controversies related to FIFA’s ban on 7 naturalized players, the Malaysian team is determined to stay focused on the Asian Cup qualifier against Laos at Laos National Stadium in Vientiane tomorrow evening, October 9.
Malaysia’s head coach, Peter Cklamovski, stated that these controversies have not distracted the team from their objective of securing three points.
The Australian coach emphasized that his players have demonstrated considerable mental strength and remain fully focused on delivering their best performance against Laos, despite the off-field distractions.

He reminded the Malaysian team, ranked 123rd in the world, not to underestimate Laos, who are ranked 62 places lower.
"We are not bothered by this (FIFA’s ban on Malaysia). It is totally beyond our control. We focus on nothing other than the training camp," Cklamovski said at the pre-match press conference in Vientiane.
"I understand there is a lot of noise right now, but that is not something we can control and it does not concern us. We are only focused on a smooth trip to Laos and putting all our energy into preparing for a tough opponent."
Cklamovski said that the unity and work ethic of the Malaysian team are crucial to maintaining focus.
"Our spirit is very strong. We will give our best for each other and continue building what we have developed as a national team."
Even without 7 naturalized players, Malaysia is still expected to easily defeat Laos, a lower-ranked team. In 19 meetings since 1968, Malaysia has won 13, drawn 5, and lost only 1.
"We will approach this match with complete respect for Laos, but our aim is to keep developing a strong style of football in every aspect."
"We have a mentality to keep a clean sheet. To do that, we must work hard together — we defend to score goals. When we have the ball, we know the spaces to exploit and will try to pressure Laos to score as many goals as possible."
"We have completed training sessions and team meetings. The team is ready — including myself, and we are prepared for a good match," Cklamovski said.
