Cristiano Ronaldo believes he can continue playing for several more years, revealing what his family members often tell him about his legendary career.
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to perform at an elite level for both his club and national team. Last season, the Portuguese superstar scored 35 goals for Al Nassr and played a key role in helping Portugal win the UEFA Nations League. At an age when many players have retired, Ronaldo still maintains his hunger for goals and trophies, aiming to keep leading his national team to next summer’s World Cup.
Before the World Cup qualifier against Ireland at 1:45 AM on October 12 (Vietnam time), Ronaldo was asked when he plans to end his illustrious career, and he revealed that his family is the one advising him to stop.
“People, especially my family, often say: ‘It’s time to stop. You’ve achieved everything. Why do you want to score another 1,000 goals?’ But I don’t think that way. I’m still making positive contributions, still helping both my club and national team, so why not continue?”
He added: “I’m certain that when I finish, I will be satisfied because I have given my all. I know I don’t have many years left, but I will cherish every remaining moment.”
On October 7, the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend was honored with the Prestige Award at the Portugal Football Globes. However, Ronaldo emphasized that he does not see this as a “career-ending award.”
“This is not a reward for a career that’s over. I see it as recognition for many years of effort, dedication, and ambition. I love winning, I love helping the younger generation, and they help me maintain my level and keep competing. What excites me most is playing alongside and against young players. I still have a passion for football.”
Ronaldo has currently scored 946 goals in professional matches for clubs and country, aiming to reach the historic milestone of 1,000 goals, an achievement never before seen in world football history.
With the new contract signed with Al Nassr this summer, the Portuguese superstar will continue to chase records, including increasing his tally of 141 goals for the national team — a world record in itself.
