Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers: Vietnam National Team Ready for the Match Against Nepal

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Vietnam’s head coach Kim Sang Sik praised the players’ training spirit and stated that the two matches against Nepal will be a significant challenge for the team. He emphasized, "Playing at home is always a major advantage; our goal is to secure all 3 points, and we hope the fans will support and energize the team." The Korean strategist added that the team focuses less on analyzing the opponent’s tactics and more on demonstrating their own strength and capabilities.

Also attending the press conference, defender Duy Mạnh shared, "The whole team is currently in good spirits after many days of training in the southern region. No match is easy, but we will strive to win to show our gratitude to fans across the country."

The match between Vietnam and Nepal has attracted great attention from fans, as Coach Kim Sang Sik’s team has the chance to reinforce their position and confirm their comeback after recent positive results.

Nepal’s head coach Matt Ross stated, "I don’t want to focus on anything outside the sport; my full attention is on the upcoming two matches against Vietnam. Nepal’s goal is to earn points in both games. Getting 3 points would be fantastic, but even 1 point would be a success for us. The team still regrets the loss to Laos, so tomorrow’s match is an opportunity to perform better." He also praised the spirit and tactics of teams led by Korean coaches, including Vietnam’s team.

Co-Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (HFF), Vũ Đức Thành, stated that preparations for the match have been thoroughly completed, covering pitch quality, facilities, as well as security and medical arrangements.

According to the organizers, Vietnam will wear their traditional red kit. The refereeing team from South Korea includes main referee Choi Hyun-jai, assistants Bang Gi-yoel and Cheon Jin-hee, and fourth official Chae Sang-hyeop. Match supervisor is Mr. Wang Xiao (China), and referee supervisor is Mr. Tang Yew Mun (Singapore).

Group F of the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers includes four teams: Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, and Nepal. In the previous two matches, Vietnam beat Laos 5–0 but lost to Malaysia 0–4, significantly narrowing their goal difference. The two matches against Nepal are seen as key opportunities for Vietnam to improve their points and aim for the top spot in the group. Due to domestic issues in Nepal, the second leg between Nepal and Vietnam is also scheduled to be held in Vietnam (Thống Nhất Stadium) on October 14th.
