Four Manchester United stars missed the latest training session just days ahead of their crucial clash with Liverpool.
According to the Daily Mail, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo, and Casemiro were all absent from Manchester United’s most recent training at the Carrington training ground, as coach Ruben Amorim decided to give these four players extra rest to recover their fitness.
Based on footage captured by Sky Sports during the opening part of the session, none of them appeared on the pitch. However, sources confirm this was purely a precautionary measure and unrelated to any injuries.
Coach Amorim and his squad are entering a preparation phase for their next big challenge, aiming to secure back-to-back Premier League wins—a feat Manchester United has yet to achieve this season.
The absence of these core players comes at a pivotal moment, as the "Red Devils" recently regained their winning form with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland following the international break.
Additionally, the Old Trafford side faces the risk of missing right-back Noussair Mazraoui for their upcoming away match at Anfield. The Moroccan player has missed the last two games due to a minor injury and was also absent from Congo’s World Cup 2026 African qualifiers.
Although Mazraoui’s recovery is progressing well, his chances of featuring against Liverpool remain slim.
Center-back Lisandro Martinez was also not present at training, despite positive signs in his long-term recovery. The Argentine has increased his training load following a serious knee surgery and is getting closer to returning to play, although he is almost certain not to be available before the November international break..
To compensate for the absences, coach Amorim called up several young academy players to train with the first team, including Shea Lacey, Jim Thwaites, and Jack Fletcher.
Ayden Heaven did not participate in training due to fitness issues after being substituted in the first half of England U20’s loss to Switzerland.
If Manchester United defeat Liverpool this weekend, they will achieve back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season, a milestone they have not reached in a turbulent campaign.
The Liverpool vs. Manchester United match will kick off at 22:30 on October 19th.
