As scheduled, the national women's team will begin training on October 21 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi), to get ready for the 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand this coming December.
Under the leadership of Coach Mai Đức Chung, the list of 27 athletes has been submitted to the Department of Sports. Notably, this training camp will not include any players from Ho Chi Minh City (such as Huỳnh Như, Chương Thị Kiều, Thu Thảo...) because they are committed to participating in the 2025/26 Asian Women's Club Championship scheduled for mid-November.
Supporting Coach Mai Đức Chung are experienced coaches like Đoàn Minh Hải, the young coach and former national player Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Anh, the fitness coach Cedric Serge Christian Roger, along with a team doctor.
Regarding personnel before the training camp, Coach Mai Đức Chung shared that this is the third gathering in 2025 to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. This camp features many promising young faces from recent women's football competitions.
“We hope these young players, along with the veterans, will train hard and strive to secure a spot on the SEA Games squad; as the experienced players are getting older, they are willing to give way to talented younger players. The coaching staff also encourages the youngsters to improve quickly to keep up and always provides opportunities for them to strive.”
Coach Mai Đức Chung stated that the national women’s team’s goal at the upcoming SEA Games remains to win the top title:
“We all know other countries have heavily invested in their teams, including naturalizing many players, which poses challenges for our smaller, physically weaker Vietnamese players. However, we compensate with spirit, determination, agility, and skill. The national women’s team continues to receive strong support from the Vietnam Football Federation leadership to participate in overseas training and matches against stronger opponents to learn and gain experience.”, Coach Mai Đức Chung added.
According to the plan, the entire team will assemble in the morning and have their first training session in the afternoon of the same day (October 21). On November 20, the national women's team will travel to Japan for training and is expected to play three friendly matches against Japanese women's club teams.
