Cristiano Ronaldo is said to potentially return to Manchester United someday, not as a footballer but serving in a leadership or administrative capacity following his retirement.
The future of Cristiano Ronaldo after retirement has become a topic of interest among European media, especially after former teammate Danny Simpson revealed the possibility of the Portuguese superstar returning to Manchester United in a managerial or executive position.
According to Simpson, Ronaldo has always had a special affection for the “Red Devils,” the club that helped him rise to global stardom and win his first Ballon d’Or. Despite their last parting being controversial, the former MU defender believes CR7 wants to return to Old Trafford someday “to help restore Manchester United’s greatness.”
“Ronaldo has the mindset of a winner and the spirit of an entrepreneur. I believe he wants to return to Manchester United, not on the pitch, but in a role where he can make important decisions for the club,” Simpson shared on GOAL.
Currently, Ronaldo is still shining at Al-Nassr after signing a contract until 2027, when he will be over 42 years old. However, many former stars believe that when he retires, CR7 could follow in the footsteps of legends like David Beckham, who transitioned into investment and football management rather than coaching.
Former player Quinton Fortune also expressed a similar opinion: “Ronaldo can do whatever he wants. I believe he will return to MU, possibly as a co-owner or a member of the leadership team. His love for the club remains unchanged.”
From an 18-year-old boy to a global icon, Ronaldo’s name has been closely linked with MU during his peak years. If the prospect of CR7 reappearing at Old Trafford in a new role becomes reality, it will surely be an exciting chapter in the legendary footballer’s remarkable journey.
