The Vietnam U17 Women's squad received a 400 million VND instant reward following their 1-0 victory over Hong Kong U17 Women, confirming their place at the 2026 U17 Women's Asian Championship with an unbeaten record.
On the afternoon of October 17 at Binh Duong Stadium, the Vietnam U17 Women's team overcame Hong Kong U17 Women (China) 1-0 in the decisive match for the top position in Group D, thereby officially qualifying for the 2026 U17 Women's Asian Championship finals. Their flawless winning streak and impressive fighting spirit led coach Okiyama Masahiko's team to receive an immediate reward of 400 million VND from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) right after the match.
After the match, coach Okiyama Masahiko shared his pride was unmistakable:“First of all, we achieved our goal of qualifying for the final round. The team stayed focused, kept a clean sheet in both matches, and showed outstanding fighting spirit. I am very proud of the players.”
The match hero, striker Hai Yen (the sole goal scorer), also expressed her feelings: “I am very happy that the team advanced. We prepared thoroughly for this match and gave our all. Although there were moments of misunderstanding, the whole team quickly adjusted and coordinated better to score the decisive goal.”
The victory over Hong Kong makes the Vietnam U17 Women's team the fifth Vietnamese football team to qualify for a continental final in 2025, following the U20 women's, national women's, futsal, and U23 men's teams.
Looking ahead, Vietnamese youth football is highly anticipated as the national U17 men's team will enter the qualifiers for the 2026 U17 Asian Championship in November. The VFF is intensifying investments, including plans to send the team to Japan for training to enhance tactical skills and international competitive resilience for young talents.
