Hoàng Hên expressed his heartfelt feelings after obtaining Vietnamese citizenship.

Đỗ Hoàng Hên was overwhelmed with emotion when he officially received Vietnamese citizenship.

Yesterday (October 17), the ceremony granting Vietnamese citizenship to midfielder Hendrio Araujo was successfully held, and the Brazilian star will be known in Vietnam as Đỗ Hoàng Hên.

Immediately after, the midfielder born in 1994 showed deep emotion, feeling proud and honored as a Vietnamese citizen, while affirming his love for the S-shaped land.

Sharing on his personal Facebook page, Hoàng Hên posted a photo joyfully wearing the traditional Vietnamese áo dài, accompanied by the caption: "I will never forget this day. With honor, pride, utmost respect, and boundless love, today I want to say how happy I am to officially become Vietnamese. A country that welcomed me from the very first day I set foot here, with wonderful people whom I will surely keep in my heart forever. This marks the beginning of a new chapter, and I am very happy. Anyone who knows me understands how important this is to me. Thank you to everyone who has accompanied me throughout these years, thank you to Hà Nội FC, my club, for supporting me throughout this process, thank you to my agent, and all those who have helped me.

At the end of 2020, Hoàng Hên came to Vietnam and signed with Bình Định on January 12, 2021, quickly becoming one of the standout attacking players.

In January 2023, he joined Nam Định. Over three seasons at Thiên Trường, he played 63 matches, scored 19 goals, and provided 21 assists, contributing to the 2023/24 V-League championship. In the 2024/25 season, he was not registered to play as he was not part of the club’s plans.

This season, Hoàng Hên wears the Hà Nội club jersey with a contract lasting until the end of the 2027/28 season. The 31-year-old midfielder has not played this season while waiting for citizenship. After completing the process, the capital club will use him as a foreign-born Vietnamese player.

It is expected that Hoàng Hên will make his debut for Hà Nội in the home match against Ninh Bình in round 7 of the 2025/26 V.League on October 18. This is anticipated to be a notable debut for the newly naturalized player in the capital’s team.
