In only two games during the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Asian qualifiers, the Thailand U17 women's squad has netted 29 goals and kept a clean sheet throughout.
Specifically, in their final group match against Nepal U17 women, the Thai team scored 12 goals. Earlier, in their opening match against Turkmenistan, they won decisively with a 17-0 scoreline. With these results, Thailand has officially advanced to the AFC U17 Women's Championship finals as the top team in Group F with a remarkable goal difference.
After the match, coach Thidarat Wiwasukhu expressed her satisfaction by saying:"It was a great match. The players gave their all. I admire how well they performed their roles, showing full capability and potential.
I have only one goal. When I took this position, I aimed to lead the U17 team to the World Cup final. I want to develop Thailand's women's football team into a strong side with quality, good attitude, and style of play."
However, the Southeast Asian representative is not the highest-scoring team in the tournament. In Group E, Australia U17 has scored 33 goals after two matches, making them the team with the biggest winning margins. In their opening match against the Northern Mariana Islands, they scored 22 goals. In the final match against Singapore, Australia U17 won 11-0.
Regarding Vietnam's U17 women's team, under coach Okiyama, they also secured full 6 points from two matches to qualify for the finals in China. In their first game, they defeated Guam 5-0. In the second match, the Gò Đậu home team achieved the necessary 1-0 victory.
At the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship finals, Southeast Asia will be represented by four teams (excluding Australia): Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and Singapore.
