Vietnam becomes the fifth team to qualify for the Asian final tournament

The Vietnam U17 women's team is the fifth Vietnamese football team to advance through the 2025 Asian qualifiers.

Despite facing many challenges, the Vietnam U17 women's team impressively secured a 1-0 victory over Hong Kong, finishing the qualifiers with two wins and topping Group D to qualify for the 2026 U17 Women's Asian Championship final tournament.

This achievement makes the Vietnam U17 women's team the fifth Vietnamese squad this year to earn a spot in the continental final, following the U20 women's team, the senior women's team, the futsal team, and the U23 national team, demonstrating the strong progress and balanced development of the national youth teams.

In the remaining part of 2025, Vietnam football will have the U17 men's national team competing in the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers this November, currently training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.

Determined to secure a spot in the 2026 U17 men's Asian finals, the Vietnam Football Federation will continue to invest in the team, including a training camp in Japan (from November 5-15) to enhance the players' skills and international competitive experience.

After the match, coach Okiyama Masahiko shared with the media: “First of all, we achieved two wins, fulfilling our goal of qualifying for the final tournament. The team stayed focused and kept a clean sheet in both matches. I am very proud of the team’s spirit and effort.”

The sole goal scorer in the match, Hải Yến (number 13), also expressed her happiness: “I am very happy that the team advanced. We prepared carefully for the match and everyone gave their best. Sometimes we didn’t fully understand each other, but we communicated to coordinate better in attack and managed to score.”

Hải Yến also emphasized that the training trip to Germany before the tournament was a valuable experience that helped the team mature: “From the start of the training camp, the whole team was determined to advance. The trip to Germany taught us a lot by playing against older players. After the tournament, everyone will return to their clubs to keep improving themselves and work on weaknesses to perform better in the next camp.”
