Ahead of the intense trip to Anfield, Luke Shaw sparks the competitive drive within Man United and aims to change the course of the Premier League battle.
Manchester United is gearing up for the major showdown against Liverpool in the 8th round of the Premier League, and Luke Shaw believes the key element right now is consistency. The English defender revealed that the Red Devils’ locker room has frequently discussed overcoming their erratic form, which has hindered their progress this season.
Speaking on StanSport, Shaw — who has started all seven Premier League matches this season — said: “The most important thing for us at the moment is stability. Right now, we win one game and then lose the next. The whole squad has talked extensively about needing to build winning streaks and maintain a positive mindset.”
Under the guidance of coach Ruben Amorim, Man United currently sits 10th with three wins from seven matches. The Manchester side is aiming for an upset against Liverpool, who have lost three consecutive games across all competitions.
Not only a key figure at left-back, Shaw is often deployed as a left-sided center-back when Lisandro Martínez is absent. He fully understands that maintaining a winning streak is vital for boosting team morale and improving their league position. “The most crucial thing is to build momentum and earn points. Sometimes the performance isn’t as important if you still get the win, because winning always brings more positive energy,” Shaw emphasized.
So far, coach Amorim has yet to lead Man United to two consecutive Premier League wins in nearly 11 months in charge. This worrying statistic is something the entire team knows needs to change, especially as Liverpool is currently enduring a poor run of results against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea.
Can Luke Shaw and his teammates seize this chance to mark a turning point in Man United’s season?
