Harry Kane netted his 400th club career goal, contributing to Bayern Munich's victory over Dortmund in the Bundesliga's seventh matchday.
Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a precise header following a corner kick from Joshua Kimmich. This was his 22nd goal for both club and country this season, extending his Bundesliga scoring streak to five consecutive games, totaling nine goals.
The 32-year-old striker has now scored 104 goals in 107 appearances for Bayern Munich since joining from Tottenham in the summer of 2023. Previously, he scored 280 goals for the "Spurs," along with goals during loan spells early in his career at Millwall (9 goals), Leyton Orient (5 goals), and Leicester City (2 goals).
Kane also holds 76 goals for the England national team, following his brace against Latvia in the latest 2026 World Cup qualifier, securing the Three Lions’ spot at next summer’s global tournament. Those two goals also extended his scoring streak for club and country to nine consecutive matches, the best in his career.
In the match against Dortmund, Kane scored despite being positioned deeper than usual, playing behind striker Nicolas Jackson, who is on loan at Bayern from Chelsea.
After the game, when asked about his role, Kane responded humorously:“Maybe I was playing as a number 6, 8, or 10. But I really enjoyed it, showing a different side of my game.
People usually see me as the top striker and goal scorer, but I feel I can contribute more than that, and today was a clear example. I still got a goal, which is great, but more importantly, I helped defensively, won duels, recovered the ball, and delivered passes that created chances behind the defense, and it all went very well.”
Additionally, the star born in 1993 affirmed that both he and the team delivered an impressive performance in the "German super classic."
Kane added: “I think the whole team performed impressively. After an international break, the first match back is always tough; many players only returned late Wednesday or Thursday, and we faced a strong opponent.
During the first 50 to 60 minutes, we completely controlled the game. In the first half, we could have been 2 or 3-0 up, but when we gave the opponent chances, things got complicated. Still, we managed to score the second goal, though it was unfortunate to concede immediately after. Overall, this is a satisfying result and performance.”
With this win, the "Bavarian giants" firmly maintain their lead atop the Bundesliga table with a perfect 21 points from seven rounds, five points ahead of second-placed Leipzig.
