Casemiro will renew with Manchester United if he agrees to reduce his salary to £200,000, but a transfer seems more likely given the much higher offers.

The 33-year-old veteran midfielder Casemiro is still a central figure for Manchester United, but a significant problem is that he cannot complete entire matches. This season, "Big Tiger" has consistently been taken off midway, with his longest stint being 85 minutes during the 2-0 victory against Sunderland; in other games, he rarely plays beyond 70 minutes.

In the match against Liverpool, Casemiro was substituted immediately after receiving a yellow card at the 57th minute. This was because he had recently traveled extensively to Japan and South Korea to play full 90-minute friendlies against Brazil. Additionally, during the derby, Casemiro appeared to have sustained a minor injury from a tackle.

Another issue with Casemiro is his disciplinary record. In the game against Chelsea, Manchester United was comfortably leading 2-0, but after Casemiro was sent off for an unnecessary foul, the match slipped out of control, with Chelsea pulling a goal back and the game becoming uncertain.

Despite this, Rúben Amorim still values Casemiro highly because he remains the most balanced midfielder in both attack and defense for the team. Amorim wants the 33-year-old "Big Tiger" to stay, but this primarily depends on wages. Manchester United will definitely not use the one-year extension option since that would require continuing to pay the Brazilian international £350,000 per week.

According to British media, as long as Casemiro agrees to reduce his weekly salary to £200,000 or even less, Manchester United will choose to renew his contract, which may also include performance-related bonuses. The Daily Mail reports that although Casemiro is nearly 34, he remains one of the most professional players on the squad and even looks after new signings Diego Léo and Cunha.

Looking back a year ago, the idea of Casemiro renewing his contract was unimaginable. When Amorim first took charge, he had little faith in him and left him out of several matches. However, Casemiro proved his worth, especially in the Europa League, where he was the biggest contributor to the team reaching the final.

Transfer expert Dean Jones stated that since then, Amorim has valued Casemiro greatly, but when it comes to salary issues, good relations don't matter. "Casemiro’s future is still uncertain, but Manchester United will not renew his contract under his previous salary terms, so if he wants to stay, a pay cut is the only option." Jones added, "How much will his new salary be reduced? New signings at Manchester United earn about half of what he currently makes, so this is not a simple matter."

Jones further commented, "Without a doubt, Casemiro has exceeded most people's expectations. For Amorim, he is a reliable choice and has always rated him highly. It may depend on who wants to sign him and what kind of return the transfer would bring, which will ultimately decide everything. But from what I see now, Casemiro is more likely to leave Manchester United. The club aims to sign two new midfielders in the next two transfer windows as part of a rebuild, so keeping him doesn’t make much sense."

Casemiro will have to choose between sporting ambitions and financial benefits. Manchester United remains a world-class club, but other teams might offer better pay or more playing time. He has several options, including Saudi Arabian clubs backed by oil money and teams from his homeland, Brazil, who have also shown interest.

Transfer expert Pete O’Rourke told "Football Insider": "If Manchester United offers Casemiro a new contract, his salary will definitely be reduced. He is currently one of the highest earners at the club, and after years of overspending, the club is clearly looking to cut wage costs. Casemiro is in a strong position here; if he refuses to renew or finds the terms unsatisfactory, he won’t lack offers."

Regarding Casemiro’s potential next destination, he analyzed: "The Saudi league has long been interested in him, and I believe this interest won’t fade. There are even rumors that Brazilian clubs might also be interested. So, if Casemiro and Manchester United fail to agree on new terms, other clubs will definitely show interest."
