Eduardo Camavinga asserts that he is still content at Real Madrid, even though he has lost his place in the starting lineup under Xabi Alonso and amid speculation about a move to Liverpool.
Camavinga's future has become a hot topic in Spain as the French midfielder frequently finds himself on the bench under coach Xabi Alonso, while also attracting interest from Liverpool. However, the 22-year-old star has officially declared that he is “very happy” and wants to continue facing challenges with Real Madrid.
In response to the growing rumors, Camavinga chose to speak out directly. In an interview with TF1, he stated:
“I am living a dream. Not everyone gets the chance to wear the jersey of the greatest club in the world. I have to make the most of every moment.”
Camavinga’s remarks serve to reassure Real Madrid fans and affirm his determination to fight for a place in the starting lineup.
After an impressive start with the “Los Blancos,” Camavinga’s career stalled due to a series of injuries. Last season, he was sidelined for a total of 159 days, missing most of Real Madrid’s campaign. Just as he recovered, he suffered an ankle injury and was absent at the start of the 2025/26 season.
Currently, the French player is fully fit but still not favored. Since Alonso took charge, Camavinga has only started one match. The Spanish coach prefers to use the midfield duo Aurélien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, leaving Camavinga to accept a strategic substitute role.
Limited playing time has sparked many rumors, including the possibility that Camavinga might leave Bernabéu to seek new opportunities at Liverpool. According to English media, he is on coach Arne Slot’s target list, alongside Adam Wharton, whom Real Madrid is also pursuing.
From Real Madrid’s perspective, the management has no intention of selling Camavinga. With Luka Modrić having left the club last summer and no suitable replacement yet, Camavinga remains a key piece in Alonso’s long-term plans. As Real faces a busier schedule with the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey, his chances of playing are expected to increase significantly.
Beyond being a rotation option, Camavinga offers comprehensive defensive skills that Valverde or Dani Ceballos lack. He can play as a defensive midfielder, box-to-box, and even left-back if needed. This versatility makes him a special tactical weapon for Alonso.
Although his future is still uncertain, Camavinga’s determination is clear: to stay at Bernabeu and prove his worth. In a season where Real Madrid aims to reclaim the La Liga title from Barcelona, Camavinga’s form and fighting spirit could be key to helping Los Blancos return to the top.
