Coach Masatada Ishii voiced his displeasure with the Football Association of Thailand following the sudden end of his contract.
On the afternoon of October 21, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) officially announced the termination of head coach Masatada Ishii’s contract after nearly two years of collaboration. FAT stated that the Japanese coach no longer met their set requirements:
“The Football Association of Thailand has decided to part ways with head coach Masatada Ishii after a comprehensive evaluation by the technical department. His coaching methods, team-building direction, and recent match results did not meet the criteria established by the association,” quoted from the press release by the Football Association of Thailand.
On the other hand, Coach Masatada Ishii recently shared his official comments regarding this matter. On his official Instagram account, he stated:
“I was called by the Football Association of Thailand at 10:00 AM today to “review the two matches against Taiwan!”. Therefore, after the evaluation process ended, I suddenly received the notice: “Your contract will be terminated today,” Coach Masatada Ishii confirmed that FAT unexpectedly dismissed him.
“The reason given was ‘I want to change the national team lineup for each age group.’ I couldn’t reconcile my feelings, so I refused to sign and said, ‘We will talk again next time.’
Then in the afternoon, the dismissal notice was issued. They are truly dishonest people. I sincerely thank everyone who has supported the Thailand national team until now,” the Japanese coach stated.
