Midfielder Tuyet Dung was excluded from the Vietnam women's national team roster preparing for SEA Games 33 because of age-related reasons.
On October 21, the Vietnam women's national team officially began their first training session of the third gathering in 2025 to prepare for SEA Games 33, which will take place in Thailand this December. The training camp is held at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center in Hanoi.
Regarding the squad, some notable changes have been made. Veteran midfielder Tuyet Dung has started coaching locally and is not part of this call-up. Meanwhile, key players like Huynh Nhu and Pham Hai Yen remain in the squad as they maintain their fitness and skill levels.
This indicates that Tuyet Dung is gradually shifting towards coaching duties and will no longer appear in the Vietnam women's national team. Once a pivotal figure during the most successful era of Vietnamese women's football, Tuyet Dung was also renowned for her exceptional corner kick skills.
Tuyet Dung attracted global media attention when she scored two goals directly from corner kicks in a single match, using two different corners and both feet. Her unique corner kick ability earned her the nickname of the female version of Beckham in Vietnamese women's football.
Currently, 26 athletes have gathered fully. Some coaches and players from Ho Chi Minh City women's club have not yet joined due to preparations for the Asian Women's Club Championship in November. On the first day, all 26 players named in the call-up list arrived, settled in, and started the first training session that afternoon. The session attracted significant media attention.
Notably, several young players have been called up for the first time to replace absent veterans. Among them, Thanh Hieu and Tran Nhat Lan are highly regarded by the coaching staff for their potential and are expected to quickly integrate into the team's playing style.
