The match between CAHN and Macarthur FC, part of the AFC Champions League Two, ended in a 1-1 draw on an emotional evening at Hang Day Stadium. Although the home team started strong and created many dangerous chances, the Australian side demonstrated resilience and capitalized on a set-piece to secure a valuable draw.
Right after the match, Macarthur FC's coach Mile Sterjovski shared notable comments during the press conference. The Australian coach said he was satisfied with the draw and praised his players’ performance:
“It was a tough match. CAHN is a strong opponent, playing with technique and speed. We had to defend tightly and make the most of set-piece opportunities. I am pleased with the fighting spirit and how the players responded after falling behind.”
The 46-year-old coach also praised the quality of the V-League and Vietnamese football: “Before coming here, we watched many V-League matches. I was truly impressed by how organized the teams play, their pressing, and the speed. Players like Quang Hải, Văn Đô, and Filip Nguyễn all showed impressive skills.”
When asked about the upcoming second leg, Coach Mile Sterjovski acknowledged that geography and climate might pose challenges for CAHN: “We will have the advantage playing in Australia, where the weather and pitch conditions differ. It will be a challenge for CAHN, but I believe they have the resilience to adapt. This is a great opportunity for both teams to gain international experience.”
Returning to the match details, CAHN started better. In the 30th minute, Lê Văn Đô scored after a quick combination and finish inside the box. In the second half, Macarthur pushed hard and equalized in the 76th minute through Tomislav Uskok’s header from a corner kick.
