Rashford speaks out about returning to Manchester United

Leaving Manchester United after over two decades, Marcus Rashford is flourishing at Barcelona and has revealed his wish to remain with the team in Catalonia for an extended period.

Departing Manchester United after more than 20 years was not an easy choice, but for Marcus Rashford, the move to Barcelona marks a new and brighter chapter. Once doubted for his form and attitude, the English striker is now shining brilliantly in the colors of the Catalan club.

Following a 2022–2023 season where he scored 30 goals, Rashford’s performance declined sharply the next season due to conflicts with coach Amorim and a lack of discipline. He was dropped from the starting lineup, loaned to Aston Villa, yet still struggled to regain his form. Everything changed when he joined Barcelona in July this year. Under coach Hansi Flick, Rashford has been revitalized: 12 matches, 5 goals, 6 assists — a performance that has caught the attention of all La Liga.

Speaking on Barcelona’s YouTube channel, Rashford said: “I’m truly happy here in Spain. The weather is wonderful, and the football environment is inspiring. I learn every day and want to stay here for a long time.”

He also revealed three close friends who helped him settle quickly: Roony Bardghji, Jules Kounde, and Frenkie de Jong. “The whole team is united, everyone wants to contribute. I just need to be in the right position, and the others support me a lot,” Rashford shared.

The English striker considers wearing the Barcelona jersey a great honor: “For anyone who loves football, this is one of the greatest clubs in history. After 23 years with Man United, I needed a change, and now I’m enjoying every moment here.”

Although not yet fluent in Spanish, Rashford said this does not worry him: “I’m still learning every day and feel I’m fitting in quite well. Barcelona suits my playing style.”

From being doubted, Rashford has now become a key figure in Hansi Flick’s long-term plans. With impressive form and a positive attitude, it is very likely Barcelona will activate the option to buy him outright at the end of the season. Rashford has rediscovered his joy for football, and perhaps Camp Nou is the place where he will fully revive.
