Coach Flick has decided to exclude the star player from the El Clasico match.

Robert Lewandowski is healing more quickly than anticipated after his hamstring injury, yet Barcelona opted against risking him by excluding him from the Madrid trip to safeguard his physical condition for the important phase ahead.

According to journalist Adria Albets, the Polish striker has made remarkable progress in his recovery process. The injury occurred during the national team training camp.. Initially, doctors estimated he would be sidelined for four to six weeks, but his astonishing recovery speed has greatly impressed Barcelona’s medical staff. Nevertheless, Coach Hansi Flick and fitness experts have chosen a cautious approach as he is not yet able to fully train with the team.

“Lewandowski is recovering well from his injury and is eager to return as soon as possible,” a source from the Polish sports channel Kanał Sportowy shared. However, Barcelona removed him from the squad traveling to Madrid for the El Clasico against Real Madrid, fearing that an early return might cause a relapse. The match against Elche in early November is considered a suitable time for Lewandowski’s comeback.

Since the start of the season, the 37-year-old striker has faced several fitness issues. He suffered a muscle injury while on international duty and has missed the last two Barcelona matches — the La Liga win against Girona and the Champions League fixture versus Olympiacos. Despite this, his scoring form remains impressive with four goals in seven games, demonstrating his ongoing influence when on the pitch.

Coach Hansi Flick is currently dealing with offensive challenges as Ferran Torres is also injured. If the Spanish player does not recover in time, Marcus Rashford might be pushed forward as the striker in the match against Real Madrid. This is a temporary decision aimed at helping Barcelona maintain balance between attack and defense amid the absence of their leading scorer.

Barcelona’s decision not to take risks with Lewandowski is considered entirely reasonable. Although the El Clasico is one of the most significant matches of the season, the Catalan club’s top priority remains preserving the Polish forward’s fitness for the remainder of the campaign.
