On October 26th Beijing time, after several days of competition, the much-followed Gymnastics World Championships concluded with twelve golds distributed among seven teams. This updated the final medal rankings: China earned 3 golds, 1 silver, and 3 bronzes, clinching first place. Japan came second thanks to more silver medals, the USA third by bronze count, the neutral Russian team fourth, Britain fifth, Algeria sixth, and the Philippines seventh!

This Gymnastics World Championships was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, where the host sparked considerable controversy. After the competition, China achieved an impressive haul of 3 golds, 1 silver, and 3 bronzes. The three golds came from Hong Yanming on men's pommel horse, Zhang Qingying on women's balance beam, and Zou Jingyuan on men's parallel bars. There was also a very close silver by Zhang Boheng in the all-around, narrowly losing to Japan, which was a bit disappointing. In other events, our competitiveness for gold was limited, but we still earned 3 bronze medals, totaling 7 medals overall, ranking first both in gold and total medals!
Three teams won 2 gold medals each. Among them, fierce rival Japan took the men's all-around gold and the women's floor exercise gold. The Japanese gymnastics team has always been a strong competitor, frequently snatching golds from us in major world events. The USA secured golds in men's rings and men's horizontal bar, but surprisingly did not win any golds in women's events. The neutral team claimed gold in women's individual all-around and women's vault, both won by the same athlete, indicating her strong capability!
Additionally, three teams each earned one gold medal. The Philippines dominated the men's vault with a commanding gold, African nation Algeria won gold on the women's uneven bars, and Britain delivered a flawless performance to take the men's floor exercise gold!
Currently, gymnastics remains diverse globally with no single dominant country. Since scoring is heavily influenced by judges, winning gold requires consistently flawless performances. For the Chinese gymnastics team, this championship was quite successful. Moving forward, they will continue striving to win more golds and uphold the glory of being a gymnastics powerhouse. Keep pushing forward!
