Dong A Thanh Hoa Football Club earned their inaugural win in the 2025-2026 V.League by overcoming Song Lam Nghe An 1-0, ending a 14-game streak without a win and moving up to 11th position in the standings.
On the evening of October 26th at Vinh Stadium, Dong A Thanh Hoa beat Song Lam Nghe An 1-0 to claim their first victory in the 2025-2026 V.League season. This valuable three points helped coach Choi Won Kwon’s team climb to 11th place temporarily and ended a 14-match winless streak dating back to last season. The result was significant, relieving pressure on the Thanh Hoa squad and restoring their confidence.
The Northern Central Vietnam derby was intense and exciting from the start. Thanh Hoa took initiative, attacking aggressively and creating several dangerous chances. In the 8th minute, Le Van Thuan’s long-range shot forced goalkeeper Cao Van Binh into a spectacular save. Shortly after, his free kick struck the crossbar of the home team’s goal. The quick and decisive attacks demonstrated the visitors’ strong determination after a disappointing run of matches.
The turning point came in the 32nd minute. From a fast attacking move, goalkeeper Van Binh and defender Vuong Van Huy failed to coordinate well, allowing the ball to bounce right to Rimario. The Jamaican striker immediately finished with a one-touch shot into the empty net, opening the scoring for Thanh Hoa. The goal energized the visitors, while SLNA had to push forward, resulting in a tightly contested battle until halftime.
In the second half, the home team increased their pressure but failed to capitalize on chances. Ngo Van Luong missed an 11-meter shot over the bar, while Olaha and Garcia also squandered good scoring opportunities. On the visitors’ side, goalkeeper Trinh Xuan Hoang played solidly, making multiple saves to help Thanh Hoa maintain a clean sheet amid heavy pressure.
In the final minutes, coach Choi Won Kwon brought on veterans Que Ngoc Hai, Le Van Thang, and Le Quoc Phuong to strengthen the defense. SLNA tried hard to break through but couldn’t penetrate the well-organized backline of the visitors. When the referee blew the final whistle, Thanh Hoa players embraced each other in celebration, releasing the tension built up over a long series of draws and losses.
The 1-0 victory over SLNA acts as an important “mental booster” for Dong A Thanh Hoa’s return to competitiveness. With 7 points after 8 rounds, the Thanh Hoa team temporarily moves up to 11th place, while SLNA falls into a 6-match winless streak. Notably, after this round, all 14 teams in the 2025-2026 V.League have experienced at least one full victory.
