'Arsenal does not need 100 points to win the title'

Following a strong beginning in the Premier League, Arsenal earned commendation from the icon Gary Neville, who is confident that the "Gunners" possess the strength to secure the title this year.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville recently attracted attention by stating that Arsenal is the top contender for the Premier League title in the 2025/26 season. According to him, the "Gunners" only need to maintain their current consistency to lift the trophy.

After nine rounds, Arsenal has shown outstanding form with seven wins, one draw, accumulating 22 points and leading by four points over their closest rivals. Liverpool’s decline and Man City’s loss to Aston Villa have allowed Mikel Arteta’s squad to take the top spot in the table.

Speaking on the program Gary Neville Podcast, the former English star emphasized: “This must be Arsenal’s year. They don’t have to reach the 100-point milestone to become champions. Maintaining their current steady form, around 85 to 88 points will be enough to win. They are the most reliable team in the league, disciplined, solid defensively, and have multiple dangerous attacking options.”

Neville also praised the balance in Arteta’s squad: “They have an extremely solid defense, with four quality full-backs, three excellent center-backs, and attackers who can score from various positions. Although they lack a superstar striker, Arsenal has players willing to sacrifice for the team, which is crucial in a long campaign.”

The former Man Utd captain also sent a message to coach Arteta and his players: “The opportunity is right in front of them. Arsenal doesn’t need to do anything extraordinary, just keep up their spirit, form, and belief. This is the moment for them to assert their status as England’s champions.”

The 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace also helped Arsenal match Manchester United’s record by becoming the second team in Premier League history to have a streak of 100 consecutive matches across all competitions without conceding three or more goals. Next, Arsenal will face Brighton in the Carabao Cup before returning to Premier League action with an away game at Burnley.
