CAHN Football Club achieved a final 1-0 win against Ho Chi Minh City Police in a game where they had to play with one less player.
The police sector derby between CAHN and Ho Chi Minh City Police in round 8 of the 2025/26 V-League ended with a 1-0 win for the home side in a game full of paradoxes. Although CAHN played most of the match with one less player, they were more effective, while Ho Chi Minh City Police disappointed heavily despite having a numerical advantage.
From the start, the visiting team began energetically, controlling possession and creating multiple chances. Williams Lee, Makrillos, and Tiến Linh continuously troubled the home defense, but their final shots lacked accuracy.
At the 20th minute, the turning point came when CAHN striker Lê Văn Đô received a direct red card for a violent elbowing action. It seemed this would give the visitors a chance to gain the upper hand, but surprisingly, just 15 minutes later, Alan capitalized on a defensive error by Ho Chi Minh City Police to score the opening goal for CAHN. Despite being a player down, coach Polking’s team maintained a tight formation, defended smartly, and made good use of counterattacks.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City Police grew increasingly frustrated. Their inability to organize counterattacks and lack of cohesion between lines meant they barely created any clear chances in the second half. Both their offense and defense underperformed, with Tiến Linh continuing to disappoint by missing a close-range header in the final moments.
With this 1-0 victory, CAHN moved up to second place with 17 points, just 3 points behind league leaders Ninh Bình. Conversely, the defeat exposed many weaknesses in Ho Chi Minh City Police’s attack and defense.
Ho Chi Minh City Police earned a corner in the last minute, with goalkeeper Patrik Lê Giang pushing forward, but the delivery was far from accurate.
From a high cross by a teammate, the ball reached Tiến Linh. The Ho Chi Minh City Police captain unleashed a powerful close-range header, but it went wide. This was one of the few notable attempts by Tiến Linh in the match.
The Ho Chi Minh City players shot poorly during their rare opportunities. Coach Lê Huỳnh Đức showed clear disappointment.
Makrillos made a clever through ball for Tẩy Văn Toàn to break free, but the number 11’s final shot missed the target.
Alan and Quang Hải left the field, replaced by Adou Minh and Vitao. CAHN opted to strengthen their defense to protect the lead.
The visiting players struggled to create attacking chances, only managing uninspired passing exchanges.
Ho Chi Minh City Police’s defense again showed lapses; Quang Hải recovered the ball but failed to finish.
Quang Hải delivered an excellent through ball to Thành Long, who crossed for Alan, but Alan missed the shot.
Immediately, Tiến Linh had a chance to equalize, but the Vietnamese international hesitated too long and missed the opportunity.
Taking advantage of a mistake by the opposing goalkeeper and defender, CAHN striker Alan dribbled past defenders and scored the opening goal.
After the home team went down to ten men, the game’s pace slowed considerably. Both sides stopped producing threatening attacks on the opponent’s goal.
Coach Polking brought Phạm Minh Phúc on to replace Phan Văn Đức.
Striker Lê Văn Đô committed a dangerous elbow on an opponent. The referee immediately showed the red card.
Both teams continuously created dangerous situations. CAHN’s defense made a sloppy clearance allowing Quang Hùng to send a perfect pass to Williams Lee, who rushed forward, but his final shot was inaccurate.
Despite being the away team, Ho Chi Minh City Police have played very well so far.
Quang Hải fired a left-footed shot at Patrik Lê Giang’s goal, but the ball flew over the crossbar.
CAHN executed a well-coordinated corner kick. The ball was headed by Stefan Mauk but failed to score. Hugo Gomes then rushed in for a rebound shot but was too late.
Nguyễn Thái Quốc Cường crossed into the box for Makrillos’s header, which was unsuccessful. Williams Lee followed up with a shot, but it was off target.
