New Nam Dinh Coach: 'We Have Never Given Up on the Championship Goal'

Following the tough 1-1 draw with Da Nang at Thien Truong, new head coach Nguyen Trung Kien reiterated that Nam Dinh remains committed to their championship ambitions in the V-League 2025/26 season.

On the evening of October 27 at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh was held to a 1-1 draw in the Round 8 match of the V-League 2025/26. Despite home advantage and being favored, the Nam Dinh team struggled greatly to secure a point, extending their winless streak to five consecutive matches in the domestic league.

After the match, new coach Nguyen Trung Kien openly shared his thoughts about the team's situation. He said: “At this moment, if I were to say whether I’m satisfied or not, I would say I’m relatively pleased with this result. Honestly, our goal was to avoid defeat in this game. The players tried their best and succeeded, so I truly appreciate that spirit.”

The 1980-born head coach revealed that Nam Dinh is facing numerous difficulties with their squad: “Recently, after returning from Japan, some players caught the flu. Today, we didn’t even have enough players to register. But everyone tightened their fists and fought. Nam Dinh will use every player available,” he shared emotionally.

When asked about the cause of the team’s decline, Coach Trung Kien admitted this is a challenging and cyclical phase: “Many have probably analyzed it already. The team is going through an unfavorable period and lacks a bit of luck. However, we will not give up. Nam Dinh remains steadfast in aiming for the top group and will strive in every match to get back into the championship race.”

With the point gained, Nam Dinh temporarily holds 8th place on the leaderboard with 8 points, while Da Nang continues to sink at the bottom, tied with HAGL but having played one more match, signaling a tough relegation battle ahead.
