Tense clash with Alonso, Vinicius faces a bitter outcome at Real

Vinicius’s displeased reaction after being substituted in Real Madrid’s victory over their archrival Barcelona reportedly did not go unnoticed by his teammates.

According to Mundo Deportivo, both players and Real Madrid’s management were dissatisfied with Vinicius’s behavior after leaving the pitch. The Brazilian star showed clear anger when substituted in the 72nd minute and was even said to have complained about frequently being taken off midway through matches this season.

“It’s always me,” Vinicius reportedly said, adding that it would be better for everyone if he didn’t have to hold back his emotions. “I’m leaving the team, that’s better,” he said before turning and heading straight down the tunnel. Shortly after, Vinicius returned and got involved in a tense altercation following the match, with Lamine Yamal from Barcelona at the center of the incident.

Although he returned to the bench to watch the final minutes and took part in the post-match scuffle, the fact that the 2000-born player left the technical area mid-game has stirred unrest within Real Madrid.

Teammates described Vinicius’s reaction as “unpleasant” and “inappropriate.” Some club officials believe coach Xabi Alonso might have been a bit hasty in substituting the 2024 Ballon d’Or early, but they cannot accept the player’s conduct and are said to be “very disappointed.” This image is not what Real Madrid wants to project publicly, and the management is currently “seriously considering” disciplining Vinicius.

In front of the media, Alonso tried to calm the situation, stating that the reaction came from a professional player’s passion and desire to play.

The report from Mundo Deportivo also suggests this incident could indicate a deeper issue. Vinicius is believed to have a verbal agreement with Real Madrid for a contract extension beyond 2027 but has yet to sign officially. During negotiations, he reportedly demanded a salary higher than the club’s allowed limit, while Real remains firm on its financial policy.

Currently, Vinicius is choosing to wait and may even consider leaving on a free transfer in less than two years. Naturally, Real Madrid does not want this to happen, especially since he is currently valued at around 150 million euros, according to Transfermarkt. If by summer 2026 there is still no signed contract, Real might be forced to sell him to avoid losing him for nothing. Whether any disciplinary action following the El Clasico incident will influence Vinicius’s decision to renew remains unpredictable.
