Severe conflict with Xabi Alonso, Vinicius seriously considers leaving Real Madrid

The relationship between Vinicius Junior and coach Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid is reportedly extremely tense, with the Brazilian star beginning to seriously contemplate his future.

Vinicius considers leaving Real Madrid

According to the AS (Spain), the issue erupted after Vinicius reacted strongly to being substituted in the 72nd minute of the El Clasico match where Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 last Sunday. The already strained relationship between player and coach has escalated into an "irreconcilable conflict," and Vinicius feels his position in the team is being undervalued.

However, coach Alonso—who took over Real Madrid last summer and currently leads the team with a 5-point advantage in La Liga—still enjoys full backing from the club's management. According to the source, the 43-year-old coach was "very angry" about Vinicius's behavior, and this sentiment is shared throughout Santiago Bernabeu's departments.

The tension is so high that AS reveals Vinicius is considering leaving the club during the upcoming winter transfer window, although he still wishes to stay and is even ready to extend his contract (which expires in 2027) if the relationship improves. Previously, both sides had discussions to resolve disagreements about Vinicius’s influence in the squad, but nothing changed.

Since the beginning of the season, the 25-year-old player has only played the full 90 minutes three times and has been benched three times. The strong return of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham after injuries means Vinicius is no longer the focal point as before, although he believes he has worked hard both offensively and defensively. Additionally, facing ongoing racial abuse from Spanish stands since joining Real in 2018 has made Vinicius feel increasingly unappreciated.

The situation reached a climax when he was substituted in the match against Barca. Seeing his jersey number appear, Vinicius became furious, repeatedly shouting "Is it me?!" and calling "Coach!" as he reluctantly left the field. Cameras recorded Alonso trying to keep his distance but unable to hide his irritation, muttering: "Come on Vini, damn it..."

After shaking hands with close teammate Rodrygo, Vinicius continued complaining to assistant Sebas Parrilla: "It’s always me. I’m leaving the team. It’s better if I go." After saying this, he walked straight into the tunnel and then returned to the bench, watching the rest of the match as if nothing had happened. At the end of the game, he stood alongside Bellingham and Mbappe, who were also substituted.
