Juventus says goodbye to Igor Tudor!

The decision was taken swiftly: Coach Tudor has been fired by Juventus. The 0-1 loss at Lazio early yesterday was the final straw for Juve’s management’s patience. Youth team coach Massimo Brambilla will temporarily step in for the upcoming match against Udinese.

A few days ago, Football Strategy Director Giorgio Chiellini showed support for Tudor. Just before the Lazio game, Sporting Director Francois Modesto declared, "We are happy with Tudor." But they are not the ultimate decision-makers. The person with the decisive power in this case is CEO Damien Comolli, who is said to have a serious conflict with Tudor. It appears the French executive was waiting for this moment to officially make the call.

Tudor’s dismissal is not unjustified. The helpless defeat in Rome extended their winless streak into the second month. Juve have endured 8 consecutive games without a win, 3 straight losses, and 4 matches without scoring — truly embarrassing stats for a renowned Serie A club, recalling the dark days of 2009 under coach Claudio Ranieri. Scoring drought of 4 consecutive games is something unseen since 1991.

On Sky Sport, legend Alex Del Piero defended his former teammate: "I don’t believe any other coach could have led this team to a championship. The issue lies in the squad’s structure, integration, and players’ performances." According to him, Juventus lack a stable core of 8-9 regular starters like other top European clubs. Except for Kenan Yildiz and Khephren Thuram, the others show inconsistency and unreliability.

Coach Igor Tudor was dismissed after Juventus’s poor streak.

Del Piero isn’t wrong, but Tudor clearly must be held accountable for Juve’s recent ineffectiveness. The lineup kept changing without success, there was no clear leader as the captain’s armband was passed around too often, and no one spoke up to defend the team publicly. Most alarming was the offensive drought. Four consecutive games without scoring is a true disaster. Expensive forwards disappointed terribly. Dusan Vlahovic missed a great chance in front of an empty Lazio net. Jonathan David was even worse, assisting the opposing team’s only goal. Lois Openda came on as a surplus player. Even the biggest hope, Kenan Yildiz, appeared exhausted and out of place.

Who will replace Tudor amid Juventus’s turmoil, posing a huge challenge for anyone? And what will be the Bianconeri leadership’s next move to restore honor and regain fans’ trust? Time will tell.
