Phi Hoang registered his first goal this V-League season when he scored against Nam Dinh in the 8th round.
In round 8 of the V-League, SHB Da Nang visited Nam Dinh. The home team is struggling with poor form and a wave of injuries. This presented a great chance for Da Nang to cause an upset. Although they couldn’t secure all three points, a 1-1 draw is still a commendable result.
Notably, the sole goal scorer for SHB Da Nang in this match was Phi Hoang, a key player for Vietnam’s U23 team. Phi Hoang is an irreplaceable figure on the left wing in tournaments like the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and the 2026 U23 Asian Cup finals. At Da Nang Club, he has played 6 of 8 matches so far in the V-League, missing 2 due to injury.
The goal against Nam Dinh marked Phi Hoang’s first scoring contribution this season. Naturally, as a left-back, he doesn’t often get close to the opponent’s goal. He is highly rated for his speed, stamina, and decent crossing ability.
During the recent October call-up for the Vietnam national team to face Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, Phi Hoang was summoned for the first time. Unfortunately, the 2003-born defender remained on the bench for both matches, as the left-back position is well-covered by quality players like Cao Quang Vinh and Van Vi.
However, when returning to the U23 Vietnam squad for the upcoming SEA Games 33, Phi Hoang will again be an indispensable player on the left flank. Scoring his first V-League goal this season will boost his confidence for the remainder of the campaign.
For Coach Kim Sang Sik, this is certainly great news as many national team players from both the senior and U23 squads performed well this round. Tran Thanh Trung assisted for Ninh Binh, Thanh Nhan scored for PVF CAND... Previous rounds also saw several U23 Vietnam players making significant impacts.
