On his personal Instagram, Mario Balotelli shared two back-to-back stories criticizing Patrick Vieira, who was just fired by Genoa not long ago. This behavior is rooted in the discord between Balotelli and Vieira when they worked together at Genoa.
Mario Balotelli had a brief period working alongside Vieira at Genoa. Under the Arsenal legend’s management, the Italian player was rarely given playing time, barely starting any matches. Their relationship worsened when Vieira openly criticized Balotelli, saying his mindset was incompatible with team sports. Balotelli also publicly accused Vieira on genova24 in July, claiming his lack of playing time was due to Vieira’s personal feelings rather than professional reasons.
Recently, Genoa officially announced the dismissal of coach Patrick Vieira following a poor start to the new season, with the team still winless after nine Serie A matches. Currently, Genoa remains at the bottom of the standings, facing a high risk of relegation.
Shortly after Genoa’s dismissal announcement, Balotelli posted two stories mocking the Arsenal legend, calling the firing ‘karma’ that Vieira deserved and accusing him of ‘exploiting’ the club. In his story, Balotelli wrote:
“That’s karma! Truly, heaven has eyes!
Now, Genoa can finally focus on those who genuinely love this club, those who truly cherish the environment, the fans, and the club’s emblem, people who deeply believe Genoa deserves a higher position!
The great work built by Gilardino and Zangrillo has not been wasted: it was selfishly and badly exploited by those who came after, taking advantage of what these two created with sweat, respect, and passion.
They abused the enormous effort, dedication, and loyalty Gilardino and Zangrillo showed for this club without understanding its true value.
Now, let’s turn our attention to GENOA and the GENOA supporters! Forza Genoa! Keep going, boys! I trusted you then, and I still do!”
Regarding Balotelli, he currently remains without a club after his contract with Genoa expired in July 2025. There were rumors about him moving to leagues in North America or India, but so far, no official offers have been made to the former ‘Golden Boy’ of world football.
