Liverpool has been struggling recently, suffering a 0-3 defeat to Crystal Palace in the 4th round of the English League Cup. However, last weekend, coach Arne Slot’s team bounced back by beating Aston Villa 2-0 in the 10th round of the Premier League.

Real Madrid have only won 2 out of their last 9 official matches against English clubs.

With the victory over Aston Villa, the Reds secured their 2nd win in the last 8 games, the other being a 5-1 triumph against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 3rd matchday of the Champions League group stage.

In the Champions League, the Merseyside team has won 2 matches and lost 1. With 6 points, coach Slot’s squad is currently 10th in the standings, just behind Newcastle in 8th place on goal difference. The Merseyside club is also maintaining a streak of 15 consecutive home wins in Champions League group matches, the best record in the club’s history. Once again, Anfield is expected to be a fortress that helps Liverpool make a difference against Real.

There are still 5 matches remaining, so Liverpool’s chance to finish in the top 8 of the group and secure direct qualification to the knockout stage remains promising. But first, coach Arne Slot’s team must solve the challenge posed by Real in this 4th matchday.

"Real Madrid is a very tough opponent, and we must perform at our best to achieve a good result. But challenges are something we are always ready to face," said coach Arne Slot.

Last season in the Champions League, before being eliminated by PSG in the knockout rounds, Liverpool defeated Real Madrid 2-0 at Anfield in the group stage, ending a painful streak of 8 losses against Los Blancos, who had won 7 of those matches. Also last season, Liverpool beat Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen 4-0 in the group stage.

Los Blancos arrive at Anfield in great form, having beaten Marseille, Kairat, and Juventus, making them one of five teams with a perfect record after the first 3 rounds. Madrid’s team also leads La Liga by 5 points over their arch-rivals Barcelona. 13 of Real Madrid’s 14 matches across all competitions this season have ended in victory.

Real’s attacking line is running smoothly with Mbappe, Vinicius, and Bellingham – a forward trio spreading fear across Europe. Meanwhile, Alonso’s midfield is tightly organized, ensuring a balance between pressing, control, and counterattacks.

Liverpool currently holds a streak of 15 consecutive wins in the group stage

On this trip to Anfield, coach Alonso will be without his experienced defensive trio: Dani Carvajal (knee), Antonio Rudiger (muscle), and David Alaba (calf). Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will have the chance to play against his former club. He has not played a single minute since recovering from a hamstring injury and was an unused substitute in Real’s last two La Liga matches.

The match between Liverpool and Real Madrid will kick off at 3:00 AM on November 5th.

Expected starting lineups for both teams

Liverpool: Mamardashvili, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Ekitike

Real Madrid: Courtois, Alexander-Arnold, Militao, Huijsen, Carreras, Valverde, Tchouameni, Guler, Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, Mbappe
