Maguire's counterattack allowed Manchester United to save at least 50 million! Rajue was also conquered and gave up signing the British Iron Guard

Manchester United had hoped to bring in a new first-choice centre-back, but thanks to Harry Maguire's impressive performances, the club has now changed their minds. Harry Maguire's contract at Old Trafford has been extended until the end of next season, meaning the Reds will not have to sign big-priced centre-backs such as Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer window.

Maguire has completely turned his career around at Manchester United and has become one of the best players at the club under new manager Ruben Amorim. At the moment, it's hard to imagine a United side without Harry Maguire, with the 'Big Head' not competing in this week's game against Southampton and his replacement for 19-year-old talented youngster Lenny Yoro being brutalised by their opponents.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are no longer planning to bring in England defender Branswaite from Everton, as a direct result of Harry Maguire's impressive performance. While veteran Evans and Sweden international Victor Lindelof are likely to leave at the end of their contracts, the Reds only need to sign a backup centre-back, unlikely to be Everton's Branswaite.

Everton have set a price tag of £80 million for Branswaite, with a price cut of at least £50 million or more, and the player himself will claim £160,000 a week. And thanks to Harry Maguire, United can now save that money and invest in other positions, such as buying a goalscorer.

Branswaite's price would be almost enough for Amorim to sign Napoli's Osimhen on loan at Galatasaray or Sporting's Djekereish and would do more to change United's overall level.

The 31-year-old is an inspirational figure for Manchester United, who was booed by his own fans at one point but regained the recognition of his supporters through his personality, determination and performance. Under Amorim's tenure, Mr £80 million has started five of United's last six games.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has also been conquered by Harry Maguire, with INEOS having made Branswaite their top transfer target, but now Rajae's interest in signing him has cooled. And Branswaite's own performance also made him less attractive in the eyes of Manchester United, and he gave gifts in the Premier League games at Old Trafford, becoming the "hero" of the Red Devils' big victory.

Harry Maguire didn't start against Southampton, with Amorim explaining it was due to fitness constraints. 'Harry [Maguire] was tired, he's had a tough week and I feel like the Southampton striker is fast and Lenny [Yoro] is faster, so I chose him. Amorim said before the game. But the United boss miscalculated, Lenny was frantically dribbled by Suleimana, but Maguire came off the bench and didn't face much of a challenge.

Amorim has publicly stated that he wants his United team-mates to follow Maguire's example. "He came out sick in the last game and was tired from kicking in the back." Amorim said: "It's the spirit I want from every player. He must continue to do his job. I think he's changed the way he sees himself. Not only that, but I believe in Harry a lot. You can see that now he's playing differently because he's confident in himself. I think we should praise Harry more than I do, he's done a great job."

Maguire wants to repeat the level he had when he first joined United: 'I'll never forget my home debut against Chelsea, walking into Old Trafford in a Manchester United shirt is something I'll never forget. It was a great feeling to win 4-0 in the bright sun."
