Inter Milan did not miss the golden chance to reclaim the number one spot in the Serie A standings by securing an important 2-1 win away at Genoa last night.
Before the match started, Inter was expected to face significant challenges. Genoa has been showing strong signs of revival under coach Daniele De Rossi, especially when playing on their home turf. Additionally, the blue-black side traveled with a weakened squad, missing more than half a dozen players. However, the champion contender’s composure emerged at the crucial moment.
Right from the very first attack of the game, Inter made a difference. In the 6th minute, from what appeared to be a too-deep pass by Esposito, Lautaro Martinez still managed to keep possession and skillfully laid the ball back to Bisseck. The German center-back unexpectedly unleashed a shot into the near corner, leaving goalkeeper Leali completely helpless and opening the scoring for the visitors.
