Xuân Son returns to Brazil, sends a signal to the Vietnam national team

Forward Nguyễn Xuân Son recently traveled back to Brazil with his wife to enjoy a short holiday with his family after a demanding period of competition.

In a series of photos posted on his personal Instagram, Xuân Son appeared relaxed and beaming with joy alongside his relatives. The 1997-born striker savored simple yet happy everyday moments, reflecting a positive mental state following his strong return to the pitch. This break is seen as a necessary pause before he enters the next crucial phase of the season.

Notably, in a family photo taken at a coastal resort, one of Xuân Son’s relatives wore a striking red Vietnam national team jersey. This detail highlights the growing bond between Xuân Son and his family with Vietnamese football.

Beyond sharing vacation images, Xuân Son also posted a video of himself running on sand while wearing the Vietnam national team jersey. The sight of the white jersey in Brazil, his homeland, was seen by fans as a positive “silent message” to the national team, demonstrating his readiness and respect for the Vietnamese colors.

After this short break, Xuân Son is expected to return soon to prepare for upcoming goals with Nam Định club and the Vietnam national team. With his current form, the naturalized striker has become one of the most watched players in Vietnamese football recently.

Earlier this year, Xuân Son suffered a serious injury in the 2024 ASEAN Cup final and had to take a long break from playing. However, by strictly following his recovery and training regimen, he returned faster than expected. Moreover, the striker has shown an even more formidable image by consistently scoring for both his club and the national team.

On December 17, Xuân Son scored twice in Nam Định’s 4-1 victory over Bangkok United in the ASEAN Championship group stage. Shortly before that, Xuân Son also scored against Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Despite missing nearly half the season, Xuân Son is still expected to catch up in the race for the V.League 2025/26 top scorer. The competition remains long, and with his current steady scoring form, it is entirely feasible for Xuân Son to gradually close the gap with the leading contenders.
