After two consecutive draws, Guardiola makes moves again: Manchester City signs a new forward for £65 million; Bournemouth remains winless in 11 matches yet continues to sell players.

Since 2026 began, Manchester City has faced two consecutive draws in the Premier League, which allowed Arsenal to extend their lead by 4 points. At present, City is 6 points behind Arsenal, making the championship pursuit extremely difficult. Guardiola was restless and quickly responded following the two draws by acquiring a strong, two-footed forward proven in the Premier League.

According to Italy-based transfer expert Romano’s latest report, Manchester City is set to sign Bournemouth’s 25-year-old Ghanaian winger Semenyo. The related transfer paperwork has been exchanged and officially signed between City and Bournemouth. The transfer fee reaches £65 million, and Semenyo will undergo a medical this Thursday before signing a long-term contract with Manchester City.

It is reported that Semenyo turned down offers from four other Premier League giants and chose Manchester City, eager to play under Guardiola’s management. With Semenyo joining, City will have both wings covered alongside Doku, advancing side by side.

Semenyo came through Bristol City’s youth system and has played professionally for Newport County, Bristol City, Sunderland, and Bournemouth. He transferred to Bournemouth in January 2023 for a €10.25 million fee from Bristol City and has since made 107 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions.

Now 25 years old and standing 1.85 meters tall, Semenyo is a two-footed player primarily positioned as a right winger but also capable of playing left wing and center forward. Valued at €65 million by Transfermarkt, he is Bournemouth’s highest-valued player. Despite Bournemouth’s 11-match winless streak in the Premier League, they continue to sell key players — isn’t this excessive?

This season, Semenyo has started all 19 Premier League matches he played in, contributing 9 goals and 3 assists, directly involved in 12 goals. With Semenyo joining Manchester City, Guardiola’s tactical options will be greatly enhanced.
