Manchester United supporters feel that a player has at last reached his peak after Ruben Amorim was sacked
One night The Premier League delivered intense action as 16 of the 20 top-flight teams took to the pitch ahead of the third round of the FA Cup this weekend.
The highlight of the evening’s fixtures was Manchester United’s trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley, in the team’s first match since the firing of coach Ruben Amorim. With the club still searching for a permanent manager, legend Darren Fletcher was appointed as interim head coach to lead MU from the technical area.
Fans seem quite pleased with Fletcher’s debut in charge, believing he helped a key player regain his best form.
During the summer transfer window, Manchester United spent as much as £236 million to revamp their squad, bringing in several notable signings, including a completely new attacking trio of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
While Cunha and Mbeumo both made significant impacts in their first season with the Red Devils, Sesko had yet to make a clear impression under Amorim. However, the striker appeared ready to prove his worth by scoring a brace in an impressive display against Burnley.
Reacting to Sesko’s performance, a fan wrote on social media platform X: “Sesko’s goals today were better than anything we saw under Amorim! And that’s after just two training sessions with Fletcher.”
Another user commented: “Amorim’s tactics almost convinced everyone that Sesko was a poor player.”
Meanwhile, another opinion stated: “It’s unbelievable how well Sesko played when he was actually given chances to shoot in front of goal. That’s a completely new concept.”
Before this match, Sesko had only scored 2 goals in 17 appearances under Amorim, a tally he doubled in just one game under Fletcher’s leadership.
Throughout the 90 minutes, the Slovenian international touched the ball 13 times inside the opponent’s penalty area, took 8 shots (7 on target), and won 78% of his aerial duels.
Nevertheless, Sesko’s brace and outstanding performance were not enough to secure a victory for Manchester United, who had to settle for a 2-2 draw against newly promoted Burnley.
