The Vietnam futsal squad is intensively getting ready for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship taking place in Indonesia.
The Vietnam futsal team has entered a crucial preparation phase at the Chanh Hung ward futsal arena (Ho Chi Minh City) aiming towards the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship Finals. Besides high-intensity technical training sessions, coach Diego Giustozzi’s team will play two international friendly matches against Afghanistan’s futsal team to finalize their squad and tactics before departing for Indonesia.
In recent days, training sessions have been intense, focusing on building physical fitness, strengthening technical and tactical skills, and enhancing teamwork to ensure the team reaches the best possible condition ahead of the continent’s major tournament.
The coaching staff is also placing special emphasis on organizing gameplay, the ability to switch states quickly, and efficiency in set-piece situations. Meanwhile, players are required to maintain high concentration, tactical discipline, and a positive competitive spirit, treating each practice session as an important step towards their upcoming goal.
Within the plan arranged by the Vietnam Football Federation, the Vietnam futsal team will have two international friendlies against Afghanistan’s futsal teamscheduled on January 19 and 21, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City. These matches are considered practical “tests” to help the coaching staff review the squad, assess each player’s form, and experiment with different tactical options under international match conditions.
Following these friendlies, the Vietnam futsal team will depart for Indonesia on January 27, 2026, to officially compete in the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship Finals. In this tournament, Vietnam is placed in Group B alongside strong opponents including the reigning Asian runners-up Thailand, Kuwait, and Lebanon.
