Real's dramatic defeat, Barca wins the Spanish Super Cup

Barcelona started more aggressively, dominating possession and frequently executing short passes through the middle. At the start of the second half, Real Madrid immediately applied pressure with Vinicius making two dangerous solo attempts in the 52nd and 56th minutes, but goalkeeper Joan Garcia performed excellently to keep Barcelona’s goal safe. Conversely, the Camp Nou side gradually controlled the game by maintaining possession and short passing in midfield, with Pedri and Lamine Yamal playing key roles.

Following a series of fouls and yellow cards for both sides, Hansi Flick made important tactical changes by bringing Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres onto the field. This substitution quickly paid off. In the 73rd minute, from a midfield combination, Dani Olmo provided a perfect pass for Raphinha, who shot from outside the box. The ball deflected off a Real Madrid player, wrong-footing Thibaut Courtois and increasing Barcelona’s lead to 3-2.

The remaining minutes saw Real Madrid pushing hard with multiple substitutions, including the introduction of Kylian Mbappe. The Royal Club gained a numerical advantage in stoppage time after De Jong committed a serious foul on Mbappe and received a straight red card. Nevertheless, Barcelona held firm thanks to their focused defense and goalkeeper’s reliability, preserving their narrow lead until the final whistle.

In the end, Barcelona triumphed 3-2 over Real Madrid, winning the Spanish Super Cup for the second consecutive year by defeating their biggest rival. This marks the 16th title in the Catalan club’s history, three more than Real Madrid’s tally.
