The World Cup champion wants MU to appoint the best coach in the world

Manchester United is recommended to aggressively pursue Luis Enrique, the manager regarded as the perfect candidate to help the "Red Devils" break free from turmoil and restore faith at Old Trafford.

Following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, Manchester United is entering a crucial phase in their search for a new head coach. Amidst the "Red Devils" experiencing their worst season in 111 years during 2025–2026, former midfielder Kleberson believes Luis Enrique is the perfect choice to lead the Old Trafford club out of prolonged instability.

Speaking to GOAL, 2002 World Cup winner Kleberson emphasized that INEOS should decisively pursue the current PSG coach, who has won the Champions League and proven his caliber in high-pressure environments. According to Kleberson, Luis Enrique’s superiority lies not only in tactics but also in his ability to build strong connections with players.

“Luis Enrique’s teams always show clear unity. Players trust him, enjoy playing according to his philosophy, and are willing to give their all. This is something Manchester United has lost since Sir Alex Ferguson’s era,” Kleberson stressed.

CCurrently, MU has not appointed a permanent manager and has temporarily assigned Michael Carrickafter Darren Fletcher’s stint as interim coach. Carrick’s task is to help the team qualify for European competitions, despite the challenge posed by poor form. However, Kleberson believes Carrick should only be a short-term solution.

“Carrick understands the club and can stabilize the foundation, but MU needs to decide on a head coach soon. They must determine whether to play 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, or another formation, then clearly identify who to keep and who to sign. Waiting until the end of the season might cause them to miss out on a top coach,” the former Brazilian midfielder warned.

Besides the coaching issue, the successor at Old Trafford will face the challenge of rebuilding the midfield. Bruno Fernandes is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, while Casemiro is nearing the end of his contract.

According to Kleberson, a high-caliber coach like Luis Enrique can directly influence key players’ decisions: “If Luis Enrique arrives, players will think differently. They will wonder why they should leave when a great coach is preparing to build a strong team. Manchester United needs to make the right move now.”

In the near term, Carrick will face a tough schedule against Manchester City and Arsenal. Without signs of improvement, MU’s urgency to pursue Luis Enrique is entirely justified.
