CONFIRMED: Cristiano Ronaldo triumphs over Juventus in a prolonged dispute

Cristiano Ronaldo will keep £8.5 million in salary from his ex-club Juventus after the court ruled in his favor in a protracted legal battle.

In 2024, Juventus was ordered to pay Cristiano Ronaldo after the veteran striker filed a lawsuit against the club. The Portuguese star initially demanded the full £17 million – the net wages Juventus had promised when he agreed to defer his salary during the pandemic lockdown.

Ronaldo defeated Juventus after a lengthy legal fight concerning unpaid wages during the Covid-19 period.

Between March 2020 and April 2021, Juventus players agreed to postpone four months of wages due to the club’s financial difficulties. However, this amount was not fully paid later. Notably, Juventus also failed to disclose these deferred wages in the club’s financial reports.

In the initial arbitration in 2024, the court found both Ronaldo and Juventus responsible, ordering the Turin club to pay only half of the deferred wages, amounting to £8.5 million.

Juventus appealed the decision to the Turin Labor Court, but the “Old Lady” was unsuccessful. Labor judge Gian Luca Robaldo upheld the original ruling, meaning Juventus could not reclaim the money already paid.

According to Italian media, Juventus will not face further financial losses as this sum was included in the 2023/24 season budget. Nonetheless, Gazzetta dello Sport reports the club may still consider appealing once more.
