The Vietnam women’s futsal squad has convened in preparation for the 2026 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship.
Starting from January 18th in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam women’s futsal team, consisting of 20 players, is training to get ready for the 2026 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship, scheduled from February 24th to March 2nd, 2026, at Terminal Hall, Terminal 21 Shopping Center, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand.
According to the draw results, the Vietnam women’s futsal team is placed in Group B alongside Myanmar, the Philippines, and Australia, while Group A includes the host Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Regarding the group, head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang noted that playing in a four-team group will present more challenges due to a higher number of matches compared to Group A.
“Myanmar and the Philippines are teams we recently faced at the SEA Games and have shown significant progress, while Australia is considered a strong team that could pose many difficulties for the Vietnam women’s futsal team.”
During this training camp, the coaching staff has called up several new players who performed well at the 2026 National Women’s Futsal Championship. According to coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang, these athletes meet the necessary requirements to fill the team’s remaining gaps. “The new players need to show enthusiasm and focus during training to quickly adapt and integrate with the team’s overall playing style.”
Regarding the tournament goals, the head coach emphasized that the whole team will strive to perform at their best, first aiming to advance beyond the group stage and then targeting the highest possible ranking in the competition.
The 2026 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship features the region’s top 7 women’s futsal teams: Thailand (world ranking 8), Vietnam – current champions (world ranking 11), Indonesia (world ranking 18), Malaysia (world ranking 21), Myanmar (world ranking 38), Australia (world ranking 66), and the Philippines (world ranking 69).
