During the preparation phase for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship Finals, Vietnam's futsal team engaged in two high-quality internal matches against Afghanistan's futsal team in Ho Chi Minh City. Through these encounters, Head Coach Diego Giustozzi highly valued the technical benefits of these "tests," while also highlighting specific demands regarding physical fitness, experience, and competitive spirit that the team must continue to improve before competing at the continental level.

The Argentine coach shared: “The two matches against Afghanistan revealed areas for improvement and demonstrated the team's capabilities. I have no doubt about the players' technical skills, but we can't rely solely on technique; we need to be more aggressive, more experienced, and better understand each situation.

Afghanistan recently participated in the World Cup, so this is the level we must reach to qualify for the World Cup. I am pleased that after these games, we can clearly define our goals and recognize what needs to be enhanced.”

According to the plan, the Vietnam futsal team will depart for Indonesia on January 24 to compete in the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship Finals. Before leaving, Head Coach Diego Giustozzi will finalize the official roster of 14 players.

At the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship Finals, Vietnam is placed in Group B alongside strong contenders such as the current Asian runner-up Thailand, Kuwait, and Lebanon.
