The Vietnam futsal team is set to train in Japan prior to their official entry into the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship.
The Vietnam women's futsal team is currently in an important preparation phase in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to conquer the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship. This training camp is considered a pivotal moment, as the coaching staff both solidifies the familiar core squad and experiments with new players to deepen the team roster.
Regarding the current squad, Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng stated that the team retains several key players who competed at SEA Games 33. Additionally, new faces have been added after the conclusion of the national women's futsal championship, fostering healthy competition and providing more tactical options for the whole team.
After a week of training, the coaching staff has observed positive signs from the veteran players. The athletes demonstrate good fighting spirit, high concentration, and quickly adapt to the training regimen. This helps maintain stability in the team's playing style while laying the foundation to enhance technical quality in the next phase.
Regarding the new players, Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng assessed that they possess quite good skills and integrate fairly quickly into the team's playing style. However, the coaching staff still requires improvements in futsal-specific skills during preparation. According to Coach Hoàng, these are necessary and quality additions that provide the team with more options and solutions when entering the competition.
According to the plan, the team will have a total of 4 weeks of training. Each week is structured with a clear schedule, prioritizing positive changes in the approach of veteran players while allowing new members to integrate. In the third week, the team is expected to play two friendly matches against domestic clubs to test cohesion and evaluate tactical adjustments.
After the domestic phase, the Vietnam women's futsal team will travel to Japan for training. This trip is seen as the final review step to perfect tactical operations and select the optimal squad. In the upcoming group stage, the team will face Australia alongside Myanmar and the Philippines. Regarding the most notable opponent, Coach Hoàng said Australia has a strong technical and physical foundation, promising to pose many challenges for Vietnam.
