The head coach of Malaysia's national team, Peter Cklamovski, recently revealed the possibility that a newly naturalized player will soon strengthen the squad in the near future.
With Malaysia aiming to advance through the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, Coach Peter Cklamovski is reportedly exploring all options to deepen the squad, especially in the attacking line. Bergson, a Brazilian striker who has lived and played in Malaysia for exactly five years, is considered a suitable candidate for naturalization if all procedures are completed.
Notably, this is not the first time Peter Cklamovski has kept fans on edge regarding Bergson. Previously, the coach often left the Malaysian flag emoji under videos related to the JDT striker, sparking widespread speculation about the player’s naturalization process.
In his latest comments to reporter Zulhelmi Zainal Azam from Astro Arena, Peter Cklamovski continued to raise hopes for Harimau Malaya fans about Bergson joining the Malaysian team soon. He stated clearly: “We may soon see him (Bergson) don the Harimau Malaya jersey in the near future.”
From a professional standpoint, Bergson has proven his quality in the Malaysia Super League over multiple seasons. Since joining JDT in 2021, the striker has scored 171 goals and provided 32 assists in just 167 appearances. Moreover, Bergson holds the record as the top goal scorer in the history of the Malaysia Super League.
As Malaysia faces fierce competition with Vietnam in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, any news about new players is considered a crucial morale booster. According to the schedule, Malaysia will visit Vietnam for the final Group F match on March 31, 2026, expected to take place at Thien Truong Stadium.
Thien Truong is regarded as one of the most intense venues in the V-League, with a large capacity and a passionate atmosphere regularly created by tens of thousands of fans. Vietnam’s choice to host the match here is seen as a strategic move to maximize home advantage in what could be a decisive game for topping the group.
