V-League increasingly 'heated'

Prior to Round 19 LPBank V-League 2025/26, The Disciplinary Committee of VFF issued a notice suspending coach Velizar Popov for four consecutive matches along with a fine of 20 million VND. All indications suggest a "heated" period for Vietnamese football pitches, in both literal and metaphorical senses.

The season is entering an extremely tense final stage as the relegation battle is "boiling hot" with the final "strategic moves" from each team. At this point, Thanh Hoa, PVF-CAND, and SHB Da Nang have been "named and singled out" for the ticket to "travel upstream" as well as the position requiring a playoff match at the end of the season. Not to mention SLNA, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Becamex TP.HCM, or HAGL, who can hardly "sleep soundly" despite having managed to climb a bit on the standings. Very quickly, they have been dragged into an endgame situation where unpredictable "moves" will occur in the final stretch. Precisely because of this, the V-League is entering a highly sensitive period.

As the season enters its decisive phase, every match now carries critical significance. The V-League is no longer a solitary race but has become a battlefield, forcing every team to fight to their utmost limit. A small mistake now is akin to "a minor error costing an entire season." This is precisely creating a unique appeal from now until the season's end.

The remaining rounds resemble a "chessboard" where the final "moves" to break free will plunge the league into a state of "uncertainty and ambiguity." Therefore, fans are anticipating genuinely exciting matches in the relegation race. Simultaneously, they hope for fairness from the refereeing team, the involved parties, and even teams with diminished motivation.

Conversely, concerns arise about the "careless attitude" of some clubs once they are satisfied with securing their survival. Clearly, the V-League's appeal extending to the final rounds is something fans always hope for, provided the safe teams maintain their fiery passion and determination in play. Hence, in this "endgame" scenario, the V-League more than ever needs transparent and fair matches from all sides.

The survival battle in the V-League is unfolding fiercely. Even SHB Da Nang, though in the weakest position, hasn't exhausted hope as they still face opponents also struggling to earn points, such as Becamex TP.HCM, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, and Thanh Hoa. After relegation in the 2023 season and needing a playoff victory in the 2024/25 season, SHB Da Nang managed to stay in the V-League.

However, it seems that such hardship hasn't been enough to wake up the Han River team. Another season, SHB Da Nang is caught in the relegation whirlpool too early. Perhaps, coach Le Duc Tuan and his players can only "bite their teeth" and play the remaining 8 matches, each truly being like a "final."

Anything can happen in the remaining 8 rounds for the bottom group. The upcoming matches are predicted to be extremely fierce as everyone seeks a "path" in the endgame to secure a "way out." Consequently, this battle will be intensely fierce and unpredictable. Unpredictable not only due to the teams' own efforts but also because of external factors influencing it. Teams fighting relegation rely not only on "internal strength" but, most frighteningly, on "external influences" in this race.

Let's await the conclusion with transparent and fair matches. Otherwise, the V-League will become even more "heated" as the intense April sun spreads across the nation's football pitches.
