The Asian Cup draw on May 9th sees Vietnam as the third seed.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed today, April 15th, that the draw ceremony for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 final round will be held on May 9th, 2026 in Riyadh, specifically at the historical heritage site At-Turaif in ad-Dir'iyah, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Originally, the event was scheduled for April 11th in Riyadh but was adjusted to ensure full participation from all relevant parties and member federations.

This change reflects AFC and the Local Organising Committee's commitment to delivering a ceremony befitting the stature of the continent's most prestigious tournament.

Currently, 23 out of 24 participating teams have been confirmed. In this 19th edition, Asia's top teams will be divided into 6 groups of 4 teams each, promising exciting competition in the final round.

The tournament will be hosted for the first time in Saudi Arabia, running from January 7th to February 5th, 2027. The final spot will be determined on June 4th, 2026, when Lebanon and Yemen face off for the top position in Group B.

AFC also expressed sincere gratitude to the Local Organising Committee of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 and the entire Asian football family for their cooperation and understanding during the recent challenging period.

Detailed information regarding the official timing of the ceremony will be announced by AFC in the coming period through its official communication channels.

With AFC's decision to reschedule the group draw ceremony for the Asian Cup 2027 final round to May 9th, the four seeding groups will also be finalized based on the FIFA rankings published on April 1st.

Thus, Vietnam's national team, having consecutively risen to the 99th position globally, will be fixed in the third seeding group.

It is anticipated that Vietnam's head coach Kim Sang Sik will attend the group draw ceremony for the Asian Cup 2027 final round on May 9th.

The Asian Cup 2027 final round will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 7th to February 5th.
