Atletico Madrid player speaks out on how Barcelona suffered bleeding

Goalkeeper Juan Musso addresses the controversy after the Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona match, rejecting accusations of "stealing the win" and denying fault in the collision with Fermin Lopez.

Juan Musso has officially spoken out after the highly contentious match between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, in which he refutes all accusations and defends the collision that caused Fermin Lopez to bleed.

In the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg, one of the most controversial moments occurred when Musso rushed out to block and accidentally kicked Fermin in the face. The Barcelona midfielder immediately bled and required medical attention, prompting fierce reactions from the away bench, who demanded a penalty.

However, Musso insists it was merely an unintended incident: “If they are demanding a penalty for that situation, it’s baffling. I regret that he got hurt; I never wanted that to happen.” The Argentine goalkeeper emphasized that he immediately went to check on the opponent’s condition after the collision.

Explaining further, Musso believes this was simply a natural occurrence during the match: “It was a very fast situation; he lunged to head the ball while I tried to use my foot to block. How can that be considered a penalty?” According to him, such collisions are unavoidable in top-level matches.

Not stopping there, Musso also rebutted the statement by Raphinha, who claimed Barcelona had been “robbed of victory.” The Atletico keeper candidly stated: “Calling this a robbery is absurd. I understand their emotions, but we won on the pitch.”

He also mentioned other controversial decisions across both legs, arguing everything was within the rules: “We earned a deserved victory. Those decisions are part of football and shouldn’t be exaggerated.”

Despite escalating tensions after the match, Musso still expressed respect for Barcelona: “They are a great team and always force us to play beyond 100% of our ability.” Nevertheless, he asserted that defensive resilience and toughness were the key factors enabling Atletico to secure a spot in the semifinals after two fiercely contested legs.
